The Culinary Staff is responsible for food preparation and kitchen maintenance for the facility
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Plan menu in keeping with established guidelines for nutrition
? Prepares meals for adults in program
? Maintain inventory of food and other kitchen supplies.
? Train residents in food safety and food preparation.
? Prepare food for special events, off-site trips.
? Adhere to cleanliness, storage and other culinary standards
? Advocate for resources to improve food safety
? Drive house vehicles to pick up food deliveries/orders as needed
? Demonstrate appropriate boundaries between self and clients.
? Project a good image to the public.
? Prepare weekly chore chart for adult residents and train the residents on the process
? Work cooperatively with others and supervisors.
? Demonstrate patience and consideration in dealing with others.
? Demonstrate thoughtful decision-making.
? Ensure client confidentiality in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
? Perform other duties as assigned.

? Ability to efficiently plan and prepare meals
? Manage preparation crew.
? Ability to cook meals 3 times per day for 50 individuals.
? Ability to prepare and secure meals for weekends when needed
? Ability to follow through with ensuring all Department of Public Health standards.
? Fundamentals of menu planning
? Ability to maintain kitchen cleanliness and inventory
? Microsoft Office Skills
? Ability to develop rapport with clients who may have substance abuse, mental health and/or health issues.
? Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with residents.
? Ability to teach/train staff and residents as needed
? Ability to prioritize effectively and work well with limited resources
? Ability to comply with state and federal regulations regarding confidentiality.
? Ability to work and communicate with others
? Knowledge of dietary needs for vegetarians and people with food allergies or medical conditions
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years in restaurant or institutional kitchen preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred
? High school diploma or equivalent
? Certificate in health and sanitation as required by the Arlington County Health Department
? Serve Safe Certification

- Exposure to clients infected with Hepatitis B, HIV, TB, or other Infectious Diseases
- Exposure to clients with significant behavioral, emotional, psychiatric, verbal and physical aggression and other
symptoms that could cause secondary stress in members of the professional team.
- Weekend and holiday hours
- Business-related travel
